Frankly the reason he was here for so long was that I was too attached to him to focus on finding him a home! But when the perfect one for him came along, I finally had to let go. By the way, cat testing for whippets only works with indoor cats. I would never trust a whippet with a cat outdoors. The prey drive is just too strong. Good luck in your search!

SharynSharyn Hutchenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14912609669161160652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917193040797301247.post-40528235301684346252013-09-04T07:30:26.923-04:002013-09-04T07:30:26.923-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Sharyn Hutchenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14912609669161160652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917193040797301247.post-24452039196464213652013-09-03T19:42:51.554-04:002013-09-03T19:42:51.554-04:00I am interested in Trick. It sounds absolutely heartbreaking, but so rewarding to raise the bottle-fed puppies. Two years ago, we had a cleft palate born here at Timbreblue. Most breeders would have put her down, but Walt tube-fed her round the clock until she was 14 weeks old and ready for surgery. The experts at Virginia Tech fixed her, and now she is a bratty, sassy, healthy little "teenage" whippet. The bond that is formed through intensive care lasts forever. -Jo Johannah Layson Hutchens Gagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04446844932740450853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917193040797301247.post-52719060067686997582013-03-29T23:28:24.515-04:002013-03-29T23:28:24.515-04:00I went through a very similar ordeal in 1998 with ...I went through a very similar ordeal in 1998 with my friends who were the owners of the mother of my 2 now very senior boy and girl. She had 7 puppies naturally and 4 by C section. We fed them around the clock for the first 4-5 days because her mild didn't drop and within the first 2 days we lost the 4 that were C section. The vet had used the wrong anesthesia and they bled out. It was heartbreaking. The bond that was formed with the bottle feeding was and still is treasured. I won't ever forget that I helped my kids make it through their first crucial hours and days. Good luck. They are beauties.Clarence Gelwicksnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917193040797301247.post-61956914820918919402013-03-03T15:27:09.619-05:002013-03-03T15:27:09.619-05:00Having "done" whippets since 1981,and ha...Having "done" whippets since 1981,and having had both genders,i wholeheartedly agree-Boys Rule!Martha,Phantom and Chelonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917193040797301247.post-53186359127906019502013-02-06T20:04:44.309-05:002013-02-06T20:04:44.309-05:00Sara, Trick is indeed still available...it has bee...Sara, Trick is indeed still available...it has been hard to convince myself to let him go. I'm not even sure why! And that's what we got, but four months later, added a male whippet. Just thought I would throw my two cents in that our male whippet is extremely sweet and loving and I cannot imagine life without him. In the future if I was ever to have only one whippet I would have no problem at all making that a male. Of course, with two whippets, I do prefer a male and a female. Our boys (Devo,I think from the Whipperwill (sp?) kennel in MD. And Bosco, a racing whippet from No. Cal.)were the best dogs ever! Both were mellow, obedient, loving, and very quiet. I find the racing whippets to be particularly wonderful and a little less on the neurotic side. Our Bosco, who died last November at almost 13 years old from Osteosarcoma, was the easiest, best behaved dog I've ever had in my life. We didn't even require a fence for this guy (though it's always a good idea to have one!). We could let him out, supervised of course, and just tell him to come on back if he got to close to our property boundry. We even trained him not to chase our outside cats. He was just a quiet gentle, loving soul and I can't imagine not wanting a male whippet. Bosco died very recently, so we aren't quite ready to fill that hole in our family, but when we are, it will be with another whippet, and probably another male.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15483175271858540513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917193040797301247.post-14022021802421850762013-01-20T12:22:07.849-05:002013-01-20T12:22:07.849-05:00I agree completely ... boys are just terrific!
